Polich Soda Ciech will be able to partly finance started a year ago investment in its thermal power plants in Janików with the aid of Europien Union. Ciech sined the agreement with Narodowy Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej (National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management) on 30 june 2009 concerning expansion of boilers. The amount of founding is about 13,4 mln PLN, which represents 30% of the eligible costs of the project
15 september 2008 Polish Soda Ciech has applied for co-funding of the project under the name „expansion of boilers CKTI in thermal power plants Janikowo in order to match the environmental requirements – boiler CKTI 2”. The allocation of funds took place in a competition organized by NFOŚiGW, in Action 4.5 „ Support for enterprises in the protection of air” under the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment. Europien Union founds, distributed in connection with this Action, will contribute to improving air quality by reducing the emission of pollution from the combustion of fuels. Approval of Polish Soda Ciech project for funding confirms that its implementation will result in significant ekological efect. Its total value is over 48,3 mln PLN and will be carried into efect on 2010.
This is the second undertaking of Polish Soda Ciech, whith receives support from EU funds. Comon proekological inwestycion of Polish Soda Ciech with Lafarge concerning the construction of installations of volatile ash from thermal power plants and its two sodium plants will also be co-financed at 30% eligible project costs, that means 12,3 mln PLN. This project leads the Hatra Cement i Beton company belonging to Lafarge (71% of shares) and polish Soda Ciech (29% of shares). Ryszard Kunicki Chairman of the Board Chemical Group Ciech said “Support of our projects by EU funds is for Ciech not only helping to finance an investment but alsow credit to the ambitious proecological projects.”
After the conclusion of an agreement by both companies for the establishment of the Department of Ash Economics began In September 2008 the procedure to apply for fundings the investment. the Department of Ash Economics will be located next to one of the two Polish Soda Companys Ciech Group – Janikosoda in Janikow and will be operating on the basis of the innovative technology of the separation of ash across the whole of Europe. The project was approved for funding the outcome of its results in the form of obtaining a significant environmental effect. It relys on the recovery of raw materials by the use of technology of the separation of volatile ashes used in the production process by the other companys.
On 15 June 2009 Hatra Cement and Beton and National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management signed an agreement on funding for the project „Construction of installations for the disposal of volatile ashes and their separation”. It falls within the framework of Action 4.6 „Support for enterprises engaged in the recovery and disposal of waste other than municipal” under the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment.
The common poject Lafarge and Ciech is an investment worth 41 mln PLN. The project contributes to fulfilling the purpose of Action 4.6 Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment to increase the share of waste other than municipal that are subject to recovery and their proper disposal.
It is planned that the investment will be completed in 2010. Technology, which will be used in the Department of Ash Economics is to use low-carbon ash from soda production in kujawska Ciech Group company as a raw material for the production of so-called. Green Cement. Also, on this occasion arise in the process of separation high-carbo ash will be used for the production of heat by Polish Soda Ciech Department of Energy. It will reduce the consumption of coal as an energy source and the group will bring savings.
