Ciech is collaborating with universities and science institutes

On 8 January 2009, Ciech signed framework agreements of inter-university collaboration as a tool to further increase the company’s innovation. Multi-year research and development, and specific purpose projects as well as education activities will be executed on the basis of these agreements.

Seven universities have been identified to have the highest level of scientific potential and specialise in studies, which align with the Ciech Group’s manufacturing companies’ activities. These are:

  • University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz – mainly a collaboration with Zachem
  • Poznan University of Technology – mainly a collaboration with Organika-Sarzyna
  • Wroclaw University of Technology – mainly a collaboration with Alwernia and Fosfory
  • Warsaw University of Technology – mainly a collaboration with Organika-Sarzyna and Zachem
  • Szczecin University of Technology – mainly a collaboration with Soda Polska Ciech
  • Politechnika Rzeszowska – mainly a collaboration with Organika-Sarzyna
  • Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun – mainly a collaboration with Ciech SA’s Soda Division and Zachem.

The following represent activities, which have been undertaken as a collaboration between Ciech and various universities as well as science institutes, up to date:

A. Appointment of an Expert Council next to the CEO of Ciech SA.
The Experts Council is a advisory and opinion-orientated body next to the Ciech CEO.
The Council is made up of distinguished representatives of the Polish science scene. The main tasks put before the Experts Council include: to intensify and expand a science / industry collaboration, assessment of Group’s companies’ innovation / development plans, and to identify the possibility to obtain funding for Group’s companies’ projects.

B. Framework agreements of collaboration with R&D entities.
Ciech Chemical Group signed framework agreements of collaboration regarding the implementation of innovation projects and the execution of R&D projects with the chemical sector’s 5 largest R&D entities in Poland. These include:

  • Institute of Heavy Organic Synthesis „Blachownia”
  • Instytut Nawozów Sztucznych in Pulawy
  • Institute of Inorganic Chemistry in Gliwice
  • Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry in Warsaw
  • Industrial Chemistry Research Institute in Warsaw.

Ciech Chemical Group’s companies are completing several research and development projects on the basis of signed agreements as well as a cooperation to update existing technological solutions .

C. Postgraduate studies in the area of Technology, as well as Chemical Engineering and Processing.
In 2007, in cooperation with the Warsaw University of Technology, Ciech Chemical Group has initiated postgraduate studies with the aim to lift the Group’s employees’ qualifications. The studies take two semesters to complete. The lectures are delivered by science personnel from the faculties of; Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering and Processing, Material Engineering as well as Ciech Group’s experts.
