The installation which cost PLN 55 million is probably the most modern installation of its kind in the world. The “monohydrate” soda from the Mątwy plant meets the most rigorous requirements of European market in terms of product quality and ecology.

Companies of Ciech Chemical Group spend on innovation and R&D about PLN 100 million annually. The most important development plans for the years to come are  modernization of power generation of the Kujawy plant which will on one hand increase the generation capacity in terms of thermal energy used for the production of soda, and at the same time will reduce the unit costs of thermal energy generation. The project assumptions provide for implementation of cutting-edge environmentally friendly solutions (ashes disposal, flue gas treatment). The other projects planned by Ciech Group include the installation of production of  MCPA and Epichlorohydrin. An important investment project in connection with observing the environmental protection legislation is modification of electrolysis by replacing the asbestos diaphragm electrolyzers with modern membrane electrolyzers.
